Giving Life to the "Dead" in Bali in April 2008

When I was in Bali in April 2008, I was involved in the activity of helping to bring the "Dead" (Already dead for 2 weeks!!) back to life!

A particular Cocoa Tree was dead for 2 weeks, the plantation owner has given up all hope on his cocoa plantation, to the extent that he was venting his anger on his trees by slashing the tree trunks with a sharp shackle... untill we popped by with a fabulous solution for him.











This particular tree was left to die 2 weeks before we arrived. When we saw the tree, it was all dried up, and the owner has given up all hope on the tree.

We gave him hope, by suggesting to resurrect the tree... :)
he had nothing to lose. Thus we proceeded to prepare for the resurrection "ceremony".

We cut all the branches and the leaves, leaving the bare tree trunk. And we watered the trunk, from the soil, all the way up the tree trunk, as high as we could reach.

Then we applied BIOVECTROL™ Agriculture (the non-toxic chemical I mentioned in my previous Blog) @ a dosage of 1:200 to the tree trunk.

** Why we watered the tree first, is to hasten the process of absorption of the chemical through its thick-walled cells to bring the water, and chemical through the tubes inside the trunk to be spread throughout the trunk.

Five Minutes after Application:
(Take a deep breath, and prepare yourself for the shock of your life)
This is what I call Internal Injury! Look what the tree was harbouring inside the trunk all the time:





























Slugs, worms, all sorts of insects we have never seen in our lives...even cockroaches orange in colour, the female cockroach was still carrying her egg, also bright orange in colour. No wonder the tree could not produce fruits and was left to die...

All these pests emerged from the tree trunk, causing open holes and wounds on the tree trunks. Eventually after about 10 minutes, these pests stopped in their tracks, and died.






The owner was given enough chemicals for the next 28 days, and he was to continue treatment at the same dosage (1:200) every 7 days.

>>>> We got a phone call 12 days after the 1st Application, the owner of the plantation was escalated! The Dead tree was alive again, and the branches and leaves had begun to grow...

I can feel the smiles forming on your faces...

A smile lit up on my face as well, and I was beaming from ear to ear, after hearing the excited voices over the phone, exclaiming, screaming, shouting and laughing all at the same time!

We saved a "Life"..... :)

Safe Pesticides for Agriculture Usage

Back to the topic of:

"How safe is the vegetables and fruits we are consuming?"

For countries that are developed, where there are strict rules and precautions taken to protect the produce entering the countries, I reckon that the consumers can be quite safe with regards to what they are consuming. However, it is always safe to know what you and your loved ones are eating...

I am currently residing in Indonesia, for work purposes. And the condition - Agriculture, health and consumer welfare is a big "Question Mark". The farmers here are not educated on the cause and effects of excessive pesticide usage on their crops. All they know is that "More is Good". This leads to excessive residual of pesticides in the crops when they harvest.

These crops are seldom for export, as the produce is not even enough for the local consumption. Thus these produce do not go through checks by the relevant authorities before going on sale in the market.

The current health situation in Indonesia - People by the age of 40 over are suffering from sicknesses such as stroke, diabetes, heart problems, gout, etc. Most have lost their lives as they are unable to seek appropriate treatment for their sicknesses.

This is the result of lack of knowledge of the environment, cause and effects of pesticides on the crops that we consume, education on the effects of excessive cholesterol on the food we intake, as well as medical facilities...

Let's discuss deeper with regards to pesticides:
Pesticides affect not only the crops which are treated. The farmers and their family members living near and around the plantations are also affected. Illnesses that affect the farmers can range from Lung cancer, Parkinson Diseases, Impotency, disabilities in birth, etc and other illnesses which have not been directly proven to be linked with exposure to pesticide toxicity, but we can't deny the possible existence of these symptoms.

I think I have stumbled upon a solution to excessive use of pesticides on crops, and the problems resulting from toxic poisoning of pesticides towards the farmers and their family members...

There is an alternative to Toxic Pesticides, this pesticide is non-toxic, yet able to control pests, plus it also has the characteristics as a fungicide to control Fungus, Virus and Bacteria that attack the crops.

Apart from the mentioned advantages, this chemical can also help to increase the quantity and quality of harvest, and protect the land from being depleted of nutrition.

There is a huge market for this chemical all over the world. At this current moment, the chemical is being utilized in Japan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan.

We have just introduced this product to Indonesia recently, and currently we are undergoing trials and tests in Bali, Medan, Jakarta, Jambi, Semarang and Batam.

So far, we have obtained positive results in Bali for trial tests conducted on the Cocoa and Paddy plantations. Pest problems and Fungus problems have been solved, and quality and quantity of harvests have increased tremendously.

The 2 most important factors are:
1. The farmers have noticed a tremendous improvement in their health condition.
2. We can be certain that the harvests from the use of our chemicals, do not contain toxic residues.

We intend to continue to educate the farmers and consumers to the best of our abilities with regards to the cause and effects of Pesticide usage, and also the safety measures they should take, should they remain insistent on using conventional pesticides for their application needs.

Are Greens really good for us?

We are being taught and educated since we were children that vegetables are good for us.

"Eat your greens son, it's good for you", and/or "Don't complain, it'll make you grow stronger and healthier!"

Haven't we heard that a millions times from our parents? Every time our answer will be,"aww..mom/dad, do I really have to?", and we sulkily flush down the vegetables, hopefully we do not have to taste it on our tongues.

Now that we are all grown up, and the environment is evolving into a totally different era now, are we really sure that vegetables are good for us, and are we able to confidently tell our children that, and feed them vegetables bought from our local markets?

Pesticides have become a "Must" in all agriculture plantations, to control pests that are feeding on the produce. Although most countries have regulations to control the residue levels in the produce being imported, however these residue levels may be toxic to children, pregnant women and even pets.

What do we have to look out for when buying our vegetables and fruits to protect ourselves and our loved ones from pesticide poisoning - a slow but deadly form of poisoning?

One thing for sure, I know is that when we consume the vegetables and fruits, if the taste is not supposed to be bitter (e.g. bittergourd), it means that the pesticide residue is too high, thus causing the taste to change. Do not continue consuming it.
